Antoine Beyer (1968) is professor assistant in the department for Geography and Regional Planning at the Paris-Sorbonne University. He develops his research at the French Research Center for transport technology and spatial planning (IFSTTAR) as member of research unit SPLOTT (Production Systems, Logistics, Transport Organization and Work). Former student at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Fontenay Saint-Cloud - 1989), he is also passed the aggregation examination in Geography in 1991. His research deals with mobility and transport system in the context of the European Integration. His main field is now river transport and relation between river ports and logistics management. He also works on the border regions where European integrative dynamics have a more obvious impact, especially in the Rhine valley. In his transport planning analysis, a special attention is paid on the spatial competition with consideration on geopolitical and economical aspects. He is responsible for the ANR Project (French National Research Agency) : Prospect on Sustainable Transport System on Inland Waterways Logistics in metropolitan areas (Paris – Lyon – Strasbourg and Lille) - (2010 – 2013). He is also expert in the OPSTE (Observatory on Transport Policies and Strategies in Europe) for the French Ministry of Transport.
